Henry Dan Piper Papers, 1947-1987.

The collection consists of papers of Henry Dan Piper from 1947-1987. The papers consist of correspondence, drafts, notes, galleys, reviews and printed material associated with Piper's research on F. Scott Fitzgerald and Malcolm Crowley. Include are letters from Fitzgerald's family, friends, and other notable literary figures; materials related to Piper's dissertation on Fitzgerald; galley proofs from Piper's books on Fitzgerald; manuscripts related to Roberta Piper's Little Red (1963); and an English translation of a French interview with William Faulkner.

F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Sept. 24, 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota. He began writing while a student at Princeton University. He met his wife, Zelda, while serving in the US Army stationed in Alabama. His novel, This Side of Paradise, was published in 1920 and he became an instant success. He published he Great Gatsby in 1925. Fitzgerald died on December 21, 1940 of a heart attack at age 44 while living in Los Angeles and working for the film industry....
